COAS leads Corps Commanders’ conference addressing terrorism, national security

RAWALPINDI: At the 264th Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Tuesday, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M) led discussions on critical matters concerning national security.

According to sources, the conference commenced with a solemn acknowledgment of the sacrifices made by Shuhadas, comprising officers, soldiers, and civilians, who have laid down their lives in the pursuit of peace and stability in Pakistan.

Furthermore, COAS lauded the relentless efforts of the Pakistan Army and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) in thwarting numerous terrorist plots and eliminating key militant figures. He stressed the imperative of denying terrorists any space to operate, reaffirming the nation’s resolve to eradicate terrorism permanently.

Meanwhile, the forum unequivocally condemned the recent terrorist attack targeting Chinese nationals in Besham and the brutal killings of innocent civilians in Balochistan. Discussions also shed light on the threat posed by terrorist groups based in Afghanistan, which not only jeopardise regional and global security but also act as proxies against Pakistan’s interests, particularly the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Amid escalating tensions, the forum expressed grave concern over India’s aggressive actions in the Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people. Additionally, solidarity was extended to the people of Palestine, condemning the egregious human rights violations and atrocities perpetrated in Gaza.

The conference highlighted the need for immediate de-escalation in the Middle East to prevent a wider regional conflict. It also addressed the malicious propaganda aimed at undermining the morale of the Armed Forces, underscoring that baseless allegations serve a larger agenda to create discord between the people and the military. Firm action will be taken within the bounds of the law to counter such efforts.

Furthermore, the forum pledged full support to the government’s efforts in achieving sustainable socioeconomic growth, including combatting illegal activities such as smuggling, hoarding, electricity theft, and ensuring the safe repatriation of illegal immigrants.

COAS instructed field commanders to uphold the highest standards of operational readiness and morale within their units, emphasising the importance of continuous professional development through rigorous training.
