ISLAMABAD: Twenty individuals who had previously been convicted by military courts in connection with the May 9 incident have been released after completing their sentences.
According to insider reports, these individuals, who were freed on April 6 and 7, had received one-year sentences from the military courts for their involvement in minor legal violations.
The decision to commute their remaining sentences came after a directive from the Supreme Court and on humanitarian grounds. The move was spearheaded by Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, who granted them clemency ahead of Eid al-Fitr, in line with legal protocols.
