Pakistan on Saturday criticised the “provocative” comments made by Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh during a televised interview on Saturday. Singh’s remarks seemed to imply that New Delhi was engaged in an assassination campaign within Pakistan.
“If any terrorist from a neighbouring country tries to disturb India or carry out terrorist activities here, he will be given a fitting reply. If he escapes to Pakistan we will go to Pakistan and kill him there,” said Singh.
He stated that India would cross into Pakistan to eliminate anyone attempting to flee across the border after engaging in terrorist activities within the country.
The minister’s remarks followed a report by The Guardian, a British publication, which disclosed that the Indian government had executed approximately 20 individuals in Pakistan since 2020 as part of a wider strategy to eradicate terrorists based on foreign soil.
“India’s assertion of its preparedness to extra-judicially execute more civilians, arbitrarily pronounced as terrorists, inside Pakistan constitutes a clear admission of culpability,” said FO in a statement.
