Reflecting on the incident, Gul stated, “When I found out about it and when I met him for the first time in the training camp, I went straight to him and apologised.”

He clarified that his intention was never to harm Khan and that, as a fellow Pakistani cricketer, he felt the team needed Khan’s participation at the time of the incident. Gul said that despite the incident, he maintains a good relationship with Khan and their families.

Meanwhile, in a social media post on Wednesday, Shadab Khan publicly pardoned Umar Gul for his comments.

“Admitting one’s mistakes requires courage. Respect to you, Gulli bhai. Wishing you everlasting happiness,” Shadab tweeted.
