ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Privatisation Abdul Aleem Khan said on Thursday stated that the privatisation of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) offers opportunities for local and foreign investors.
While presiding over a meeting of the Privatisation Commission Board in Islamabad, Khan stressed the potential for increased investment resulting from the restructuring of PIA. He highlighted that the institution’s balance sheet has significantly reduced its liabilities.
Expressing optimism, Khan stated, “We anticipate active interest from the business community in acquiring the national airline.”
Recently, Aleem Khan and Power Minister Awais Leghari pledged to expedite efforts for the privatisation of distribution companies (Discos).

In a meeting held in Islamabad, Khan and Leghari discussed matters pertaining to the privatisation of various Discos projects and Independent Power Producers (IPPs).
Both ministers committed to expediting the privatisation process in collaboration with relevant departments, aiming to finalise the actions swiftly.
Aleem Khan reiterated his full support to Leghari in advancing the privatisation agenda.
